The driver and staff are always in time, friendly and helpful with the smaller children, eager to keep everybody safe. Thank you for the reliable bus service - we have been to other parts of the world for more than 9 years now, but this bus service is by far the best and most reliable. From my side - it is good, no need for further improvement.

Analysis of IB Diploma Provisional Results: May 2011

Summary
The results from the May 2011 IB Exam session were released on July 5th 2011, and this session represents the first year since adopting the IB that the average diploma score has gone down when compared to that achieved by the previous cohort, with an average score of 31.1, compared to the average points score achieved by the 2010 graduates of  33.  Whilst year-on-year fluctuations may always occur, this year was also characterised by many students scoring well below their predicted grades.

However, this year was not without its successes.  Once again, no student scored less than 24 points.  In addition, our pass rate at 94 percent, an outstanding rate!  We strive to be a school where students with the drive and ability can achieve the highest marks, and all entered for the Diploma and who apply themselves will obtain the Diploma.   In addition, we are well above both global and last year’s average in students scoring above 30 points.  This demonstrates the strength of the fundamentals of the programme at The British School.

Also, this year marked by far the best in terms of accuracy in grading Internal Assessments (IAs).  Of all subjects, only two, had IA scores moderated down significantly.  The vast majority has IA grades confirmed and four others had slight adjustments to grades, in either direction.  This suggests that the level of confidence shown by teachers in understanding the assessment criteria is becoming increasingly strong.

Subjects in which we excelled:

Most subjects continue to produce results above global averages.  Hindi A SL and Music HL both averaged 6 points.  English scores were very strong as were most Group 3 subjects (the Humanities), with Economics Higher Level (HL) again scoring strong.  HL students tended to perform strongly in Group 3 subjects.

Also notable was a strong showing in TOK and Extended Essay.  We experienced another increase in bonus points and are again well beyond global averages in that category.
