Parent School Organisation (PSO)

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

In 2003 the Parent School Organisation (PSO) was established by a group of parents, with psoit's objective being ‘to support and enrich activities of The British School by developing effective relationships and communication between the staff, parents and students of the school body’. Working closely with the senior management team, administration and teachers, the PSO organises, spearheads and assists in various activities throughout the academic year, its focus clearly being enhancing students’ life and promoting an overall spirit of ‘bonhomie’ and intellectual understanding amongst the school community at large.

All parents / guardians of The British School are eligible to be members of the PSO. An annual subscription of Rs.300 per child is levied. All members are entitled to attend any General Meeting of the organisation. As a non-fundraising entity, the PSO ploughs back any surplus it may accrue into student-related activities. The accounts of the PSO are maintained by the school.

The PSO Coordinating team consists of a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, two Primary School Representatives and three Secondary School Representatives. Working Committee Groups such as the Charity Group, the Learning Support Group, the Welcoming Group and more recently the Student Life Group work alongside to support the team.

However, the PSO does not duplicate the work of the Board of Governors; does not make any policies for school and most importantly is not a grievance body.
