We moved Delhi last year and this was a huge challenge for us and mainly for our children. The way you dealt with all joining process, the integration and after that, the ongoing school activities, were absolutely fabulous. This is possible with a great team of professionals, following world class standards for international education.

Student enrichment programme

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

The British School offers a range of programmes where students can get involved in everything from after-school activities, arts festivals, visits to galleries, special assemblies (where students learn about different cultures) to charity projects and community sports days to name a few. We aim to bring a holistic approach to education and our various programmes offer opportunities to enrich the students’ experiences, add value to their skills and help them grow as individuals.

After school activities programmerabinderkaur
Students of Years 1-6 have the opportunity to access extra-curricular activities organised by external specialists after the school day from 2:20pm – 3:20pm. The programme is run by the Activities Coordinator and offers a range of activities which change regularly according to demand and weather conditions. Please note that this is a voluntary programme, and not compulsory.

These activities are truly beneficial to each student and help to:
• Develop a student’s full potential.
• Increase social awareness, social skills, group responsibility and empathy.
• Foster individual talents and interests.
• Supplement the curriculum offered during the school day.
• Identify each student’s strengths and interests which lie outside the normal taught curriculum.

Students are encouraged to vary their choices of activities which include:
• Sports such as football and basketball.
• Creative arts and crafts.
• Dance, movement and music.
• Drama and role play.

Please get in touch with the Afternoon Activities Coordinator at r.kaur@british-school.org if you would like more details. Click here for a sample of the Primary Afternoon activities on offer.

School trips
School trips can be valuable and practical learning opportunities to help bring to life subjects that students are studying in the classroom. School trips are organised locally within Delhi for Years 1-4 students and further afield depending on the nature and purpose of the trip for Years 5 & 6. Trips and visits play a major part in school life. The knowledge and experience gained beyond the classroom consolidates, extends and enriches the curriculum. The expectation is that all students should attend these trips and that parents support the school in this aim. We believe that students derive immense educational benefit from first-hand experience of places, events and visits.

Fun activities
School life requires a balance between learning and having fun. Our students enjoy many social activities including the Valentine’s Dance, Crazy Hair Day, end-of-term class parties and end of year discos (organised and hosted by Year 5 for Year 6), as well as the International Evening, and a ‘Moving Up: Moving On’ ceremony for Year 6 going to Year 7, to name a few.
We also organise curriculum-based programmes such as Class Assemblies, Literacy Week, Numeracy Week, U. N. Week, Art Work displays and exhibitions to further stimulate and stretch each student.

Special assemblies
The beauty of our school is the diverse mix of cultures and nationalities. There is so much we can learn from one another and our Special Assemblies held throughout the year allow us to celebrate and share these differences.

Students are involved in the creation of the assemblies and often display a performance that shows how a culture is celebrated. This is linked to classroom learning as the students extend their knowledge through classroom displays and presentations. We have hosted many successful special assemblies for all sorts of occasions such as: Diwali, Gandhi Jayanti, Christmas, Independence Day and United Nations Week.

Community service
We lead by example and benevolence is an important part of The British School’s curriculum across all year groups. We are affiliated with various non-governmental organisations and the PSO plays a major part through its Christmas Giving Tree project which brings the whole school community together in providing Christmas cheer to children less fortunate than ours through gifts and performances.
