Rewards and Achievements
Giving awards and certificates to recognise outstanding achievement is a great way to encourage students to do their best. The school is committed to rewarding and acknowledging effort and behaviour. We have formal and informal systems in place to reward students who make the right choices.
Rewards at Key Stage 3
Panther Points are awarded to student in Year 7 -9 by subject teachers and tutors for outstanding personal attainment. Students who receive 5 Panther Points in the same Curriculum Area will be awarded with a Certificate by the Curriculum Leader. If a student receives 5 Panther Points from their tutor, then a Certificate is awarded by the Key Stage 3 Co-ordinator.
Students who achieve 3 Curriculum Area or 3 Key Stage Co-ordinator Certificates will be awarded a Certificate from the Principal. These awards will be an ongoing process throughout the course of each academic year. These should be collected regularly, and once received students should make a note of this on the commendation page in their planner.
The Ekta Sethi Memorial Award will be given to a student of Year 9 who has displayed a positive attitude to learning, has excelled in academics and has been a active participant in sports/extra curricular activities. ‘Key Stage 3 Student of the Year Award’ will be given to student who best exemplifies the attributes of the learner profile.
Rewards at Key Stage 4
Students in Years 10 and 11 will receive commendation letters from the Key Stage 4 Coordinator to acknowledge good work. Once a student in any one year receives 2 commendation letters from the Key Stage Coordinator a third commendation will be awarded to the student by the Principal for outstanding personal attainment. The key criteria will be that students have made a significant contribution to school life or made significant personal progress. Awards to students who achieve outstanding IGCSE results will be presented early in the first semester of each year. ‘Key Stage 4 Student of the Year Award’ will be given to the student who best exemplifies the attributes of the learner profile.
Rewards at Key Stage 5
Students in Years 12 and 13 will receive letters of commendation from the Key Stage 5 Co-ordinator based on the same criteria for Years 10 and 11. The difference at Key Stage 5 is that once a student receives 3 letters of commendation, the fourth commendation will be awarded by the Principal for outstanding personal attainment. The key criteria will be that students have made a significant contribution to school life or made significant personal progress.
