Library
Our library contains a rich collection of around 9000 resources including books, videos, periodicals, newspapers, CDs and DVDs ranging
from general reference and circulating collections to specialised collections for IB students. It also has 20 laptops available for students to carry out their research work and assignments.
Library resources are accessed by an easy-to-use computerised Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) which allows searches for materials by key-words, or through several access points like author, title, subject, call number, publisher, and year of publication.
There is always a librarian on duty to help with the identification of sources on a particular subject, the location of materials, or queries concerning the library's operations and procedures.
How many items can students borrow and for how long?
Students are allowed to borrow resources for a period of one week and can get this period extended twice.
• Year 7 to 11: Two Items
• IB Students (Year 12 & 13): Five Items
• Teachers: 15 Resources including 2 DVDs
Other facilities in the library
The laptops are connected to a centralised printer which allows students and staff to print out their assignments or research work. It also has a Xerox machine for making copies of documents as well as a scanner available to everyone.
Reference section
This section houses the main reference collection, which is non-circulating and includes encyclopedias, language dictionaries, biographical dictionaries, handbooks, atlases and directories.
Professional Development & Teacher Resources
This area is dedicated to teachers and their varied needs. There are a range of resources covering a range of topics including curriculum planning, budgeting, differentiation, appraisal, bulling in schools and how to cope with children who have learning disabilities and special needs.
Multimedia resources
We have a collection of around 400 multimedia resources, which are easily accessible by students as well as staff in the library.
Periodicals and news update
This corner contains a collection of around 30 periodicals and 7 newspapers encouraging everyone to update themselves about the happenings in and around the world. Our staff is allowed to borrow these periodicals for up to a week at a time, and students can make use of them in the premises of the library.
Library facilities for IB students
We have an IB resource collection which has been developed to keep a pace with the IB curriculum and to help students with their extended research. Only IB students can borrow these books, however, all other students can also refer to these resources in the library. There is an IB corner which is reserved for IB students so that they study and are undisturbed from others while working and there is a reading and discussion room for them to provide extra space and privacy.
