Ms. Uppal has obtained a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in History from St. Stephens College, Delhi University and is a qualified teacher from the Central Institute of Education, Delhi University. She is a PTC (Principal’s Training Centre) certified International school leader and is a trained Distance Examiner for IGCSE, CIE (Cambridge International Exam) Board and an International Baccalaureate (IB) Level 3 History teacher. In her total teaching career of over 25 years Ms. Uppal has taught IGCSE, A Level  and IB History. She has held various portfolios at school – Coordinator of History, Student Council Advisor , Dean Of Students  and Deputy Principal.

She serves on a few school Boards in Delhi and is working closely with schools in India on curriculum development for the IGCSE programme. She has attended a host of international conferences, seminars and workshops and served as a member of the accreditation team of the Council of International Schools.

Christian Chiarenza grew up in Vancouver, Canada, where he studied Philosophy at the University of British Columbia and then in Toronto at York University. After this he moved to Ecuador where he taught IB Theory of Knowledge (TOK) and Philosophy. He then moved to Los Angeles to obtain his teaching qualification from California State University, Long Beach. He has since taught in Boston and Hong Kong before coming to India in 2007. He now works as an IB Workshop leader for TOK, Psychology and Coordination and is the IB Asia Pacific representative for regional workshops in India.

In addition, he is working on writing the upcoming guide for TOK as part of the current Curriculum Review. He is currently IB Coordinator, TOK and Psychology teacher.

   

Vandana Seoni

Vandana has done M.Sc and M.Phil in Mathematics from IIT, Kanpur. She has taught in CBSE schools (Convent of Jesus and Mary and Sanskriti School) for nearly 15 years as a post graduate teacher. She has been an Examiner for CBSE examinations for a number of years. Then she moved to take the challenges of the IB curriculum and joined Pathways World School , Aravali, Gurgaon. She was in Pathways for nearly 4 years as an IB Math (Standard and Higher levels) and an IGCSE teacher and also taught Theory of Knowledge (TOK) for two years.

Since the last two years, she has been an Assistant Examiner with IB correcting Internal Assessments. At present, Vandana is the Curriculum Leader – Math & ICT and an IB Math teacher  and Examiner.

   

Mary George

Mary completed her education at the prestigious Department of Botany, University of Delhi which is a ‘Centre of Excellence’ having pioneered research in various aspects of Botany. She did a Bachelor’s in Education from Jamia Millia Islamia as a scholarship candidate and an active member of the editorial team and took up Art at the College of Art. She has been an active theatre person in her college days having worked with Khurshid Latif and Habib Tanvir in the popular social dramas like ’Hazaar Chaurasi ki Maa’. Mary has worked previously in Bluebells School and the Naval Public School as Head of the Biology Department. She uses  an inquiry approach in her teaching of Biology and has developed novel investigations for her students using improvised apparatus. She is also a trained AIDS educator.

She joined The British School in 1997 and has taught Key Stage 3 Science, IGCSE Biology and IB Diploma Programme Biology, is an active teacher trainer working with Cambridge International Examination. At present she is an IB Examiner for Biology Extended Essays as well as Paper 3. Besides Biology, Mary’s interests lie in assessment and she has attended several workshops in this area and is the Coordinator for Assessment Recording and Reporting. She also oversees the student newspaper ‘Blueprint’ which was the outcome of her running an activity on ‘Creative Writing and Journalism. ’Blueprint’ is a strong student voice and showcases many facets of school life.

After finishing her schooling from Loreto Convent, Shillong, Ratna came to Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi for her Masters degree in Linguistics. Then she obtained her Bachelor of Education degree and went to the Institute of Education, University of London, for her second master’s degree in Language and Literature. She taught in Edgware High School in London before moving back to India. After a two year stint at the Calcutta International School she moved to The British School, New Delhi in 1993.

The study and acquisition of Language is her area of interest and she has been the EAL Co-ordinator for many years. Currently she teaches English at both the IGCSE and IB levels and is also an IB Examiner. As the CAS Co-ordinator, she enjoys interacting with students and finds solace in Indian music and dance.

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Pure Sciences and Special Education from India, Sujatha worked for students with learning difficulties In New Delhi.  In 1997, she took a break and continued further studies in Special Education from the University of Adelaide, South Australia.  She enjoyed being a student again after 5 years of married life.  After returning from Adelaide, she continues to work in the field of special education in various capacities as a teacher, teacher trainer, Special Needs Coordinator.  Apart from teaching in India she has taught in Singapore and USA and enjoys teaching students with individual needs and her work in The British School.

Having been a professional potter, designer and ceramic artist for over 15 years, Kristine came into art education first by being a Visiting Artist Faculty at TVS School of Habitat Studies New Delhi, Indus College of Architecture, Karachi, IIT Design Centre, Powai and then at Sanskriti Kendra, New Delhi. She was a British Council (Charles Wallace Trust) and Nehru Trust scholar at the V & A Museum, London researching 19th century Indian pottery from the Great Exhibitions and subsequently curated the new ceramic galleries at the Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur. Her ceramics have been exhibited and  are in collections of the Essl Museum, Austria, Cartwright Hall. Bradford, Seoul Biennale, Icheon among others. I am a founder member of the contemporary artist-led group KHOJ in New Delhi. She is an IB Visual Arts and Extended Essay Examiner and teaches Theory of Knowledge besides IB and IGCSE Visual Art.

Jyothi has done her entire schooling from Convent of Jesus & Mary, New Delhi, following which, she took her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the Delhi University. She has done her post-graduation in Advertising and Public Relations and done her Bachelor in Education from the Central Institute of Education, Delhi University. She has a passion for teaching and working with children and has moved to The British School after having worked for 14years in Springdales, Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi, where she received the Indu Chowfin Award for excellence in teaching.

She is trained from the University of Cambridge to conduct oral examinations for English as a second language and for moderation of coursework in Literature. She is a trained IB teacher for both Literature and the new course in Language and Literature. She is also a TESMC trainer and has trained teachers to enable second language learners gain proficiency in English in main stream classrooms. She is currently the Key Stage 5 Coordinator for Year 12 & 13.
